SNARESTONE PARISH COUNCIL
MINUTES OF MEETING: 17 June, 2010 at St Bartholomew’s Church
1. Present: Simon Boam, James Hunt, Jonathan Driffill and Mike Gee. Clerk: Mike Allen.
2. Apologies: Jane Davies
3. Minutes of meeting on 15 March, 2010 read and signed
4. Matters arising: no matters arising from last meeting
5. Money owed: Aon Ltd - £797.86 annual insurance renewal; D & PD Upton - £159.82 mower service and repairs; Wicksteed Leisure - £34.30 VAT on replacement swings
6. Annual Audit: reconciliation for 2009-‘10 presented to the Council and approved; Receipts and Payments ledger signed by Chairman and Clerk. The Annual Governance Statement was read by the Councillors present and was unanimously approved.
7. Speedwatch: e-mail received from Mike Wilson, Speedwatch co-ordinator. As camera prices are all close to £3K, MA to contact neighbouring councils to gauge interest in a sharing proposal.
8. Pavilion: Mr & Mrs Bateman have no objection to renewing the lease to the Parish Council rather than the Football Club - they have asked for a clause to restrict noise; MA has had a reply from Crane & Walton with a price of £125.00 plus VAT for a new lease to be drawn up. All approved and MA will now go ahead after getting agreement from the Football Club to cancel the final part of the lease.
9. Planning applications: Repositioning of the existing canal slipway and repositioning of railings to Snarestone Pump house - no objections.
10. AOB
(i) Adrian Gascoine has agreed with the sponsor of a Heather Football Team to allow them to
use the Conery. In return, the sponsor will complete all the necessary plumbing work free of
charge. The Parish Council will organise the water and electricity connections, using the funds
already collected and being held for this purpose (approx. £4,500). Adrian can organise a
digger to make the necessary trench. MA to follow through to attempt to have everything up
and running by the start of the football season.
(ii) Litter Pick - £15.00 to Mike Gee to cover refreshments for the volunteers.
(iii) Allotment rent - check the peppercorn amount of £5.00 annually is as agreed.
(iv) Garages behind Quarry Lane - complaints have been received regarding motorbike noise
And anti-social behaviour. MA to contact the local authorities.
