SNARESTONE PARISH COUNCIL

MINUTES OF MEETING: 24 September, 2007 at St Bartholomew’s Church

1. Present: Jonathan Driffill, Jane Davies, Mike Gee, James Hunt. Clerk: Mike Allen

2. Apologies: Simon Boam

3. Minutes of meeting on 25 June, 2007 read and signed

4. No matters arising

5. Money owed: £113.07 to D & PD Upton for mower repairs. Cheque signed at meeting.

6. Pavilion: we have had a letter from Mander Cruickshank. The main point is that the lease cannot be assigned. MA to check whether the lease can be cancelled by the Football Club - if so, check with Chub and, if their Committee are agreeable, follow the necessary proceedings to end the current lease and organise a new one. MA to check whether the Parish Council has the legal capacity to enter into such an Agreement. Mander Cruickshank’s quotation for a maximum cost of £400.00 was unanimously accepted by the Council. Mike Gee to arrange a meeting to discuss the present state of play regarding water and electricity supply to the pavilion and pass paperwork over to Mike Allen. MA to approach the County Council regarding the possibility of a grant towards water and electricity under the Regeneration and Community Development scheme.

7. Conery path: three quotations needed. Thanks to the Summer Fair Committee for the promised donation of £500 towards the costs and we also hope to have a donation form the Pantomime Committee. This is going to be an expensive job.

8. Leicestershire Community Speed Watch: awaiting data from telegraph pole mounted recorders. MA to enquire whether we can publish the results of our visual logs on the website - these contain registration numbers and recorded speeds.

9. Current Planning Applications: The Old Saddlery

10. Bus route: awaiting a response to MA’s letter requesting a re-route from Bosworth Road down Main Street.

11. Litter picking: MA to advise a date sometime in November. Then contact Richard Blunt (who has promised full support) and also tell everyone in the village. MA has written to McDonalds.

12. Village Summer Fete: this was a really successful event and raised approximately £1500.00 with more to come from the auction. James suggested the auction should be held on the same evening as the Bonfire Night celebration. MA to e-mail the Summer Fair Committee for their reactions. £500 has been allocated to the Conery path restoration and the balance will go towards the installation of water and electricity in the pavilion.

13. Annual Audit: awaiting confirmation

14. PC Stewart Davis, our Beat Manager, came to the meeting and provided some very useful information. It was universally agreed to take up the offer the of ‘No Cold Callers’ initiative. Signs will be put on telegraph poles around the village and the police will visit every home to advise about the scheme and distribute literature. Neighbourhood Watch: this is being replaced by a network of people within villages - we provide a number of e-mail addresses, who will receive information on crimes and potential crimes in the area and will be expected to broadcast this information to their neighbours. We have agreed to try this approach. MA to provide e-mail addresses.

15. Autumn Newsletter: printed and ready to distribute.
