St Bartholomew's Church. Member of the Appleby Benefice. A small brick Georgian Church situated on the B4116 on the west side of the village. It is comfortably appointed, with red upholstered seating, carpeted throughout and equipped with an  amplification system incorporating a Hearing Loop. Access is such that wheelchairs are easily  accommodated   It is  a warm,  welcoming and friendly place of worship,  It is also a place where ,at  various times of the year ,social events take place which aim to involve and entertain the  wider community.
The church is supported by gifts of money. A scheme is in place whereby moneys are donated directly on a regular basis and  take advantage of the Gift Aid  Scheme. Any tax paid by the giver is refunded to the church
This generous giving has made possible the day to day running, replacement  of rotten  floors, renewal of seating, rewiring of the electrical systems and  the Introduction a Hearing Loop for the hard of hearing.
The  future of  the Burial Ground has also been saved for future generations with these donations. Mr Will Statt very generously has given us the adjoining  land on condition that we shoulder the planning ,legal and fencing costs.
