SNARESTONE PARISH COUNCIL

 

MINUTES OF MEETING 23 JANUARY, 2007

 

 

1. Present: Jonathan Driffill, Jane Davies, James Hunt, Mike Gee. Clerk: Mike Allen

 

2. Apologies: Simon Boam

 

3. Minutes of last meeting approved and duly signed

 

4. No matters arising

 

5. Amount of money owed: £51.79 to Appleby Online for website maintenance.

 

6. Pavilion Lease: Jane Davies to contact Mr Bateman in order to establish whether there is a lease in existence. If so, agree the renewal details; get it drawn up and signed. If not, get a new lease drawn up (with provision for periodic renewals) and signed.

 

7. Conery path: Jonathan Driffill has agreed, in principal, phasing the works with Jamie Horler. Mike Gee to confirm the work (and payment) to be completed over two years. It was agreed to abandon the approach to Redbank as we have not had any responses to MA’s letter or phone calls.

 

8. Mike Allen to invite the Community Support Officer to the next Council meeting. Advertise for a Neighbourhood Watch Organiser in the Parish News and Snarestone Website.

 

9. Annual Audit: completed and approved. The statutory notice is on the village notice board.

 

10. East Midlands Airport noise complaint: letter received saying that Snarestone is outside their area.

 

11. Leicestershire Community Speed Watch: still ongoing. The three pilot schemes were successful and are now being evaluated. There is a budget for the next year and we hope that we will be included in the scheme when the next allocations take place.

 

12. Live Planning Links: we are working on the availability of current Snarestone Planning Applications being accessible via our website.

 

13. Oak FM: local radio station looking for news of local events for their Saturday programme. MA has e-mailed Pantomime details and will advise them when the Duck Race is due. Mike Gee to advise MA when date is known.

 

14. Parish Precept: we are requesting a 10% increase for the next Financial Year

 

15. Current Planning Applications: no objections

 

16. Campaign for the Protection of Rural England (CPRE): it was agreed to renew our membership

 

17. Rural Community Council Best Village Competition: it was agreed that we should enter Snarestone in two categories (a) Building Community Life: making best use of the village assets to ensure that it is a good place to live and demonstrating socially inclusive events and facilities; and (b) Use of Information Technology: showing websites that inform and entertain visitors to our site.

 

18. AOB          i. Church Council funding for next Year: The Parish Priest has decided to take                      on the job of fundraiser. Jonathan Driffill has pledged his support, if required.

 

                        ii. Jane Davies reported that the Christmas lights on the tree in the War                                  memorial had been tampered with and the junction box moved - risking                      serious injury, or death, to those responsible. Everyone is asked to be                               watchful.

 

                        iii. MA has written to Hinckley and NW Leicester Councils about the travellers’                        mess at Gopsall Wharf and the fly tipping in both Green Lane and Quarry                     Lane. We await their responses.

                       

                        iv. James Hunt suggested a Newsletter, detailing our achievements over the                          past year and a calendar of events, plans and dates of Council meetings for                  the coming year. This was universally agreed and may also include                              information on the Tote to encourage new people to join.

 

19. Date of next meeting and AGM: 12 March, 2007 at 7.45pm in St Bartholomews Church. All Snarestone villagers welcome. If anybody has any point/s to raise, please inform the Clerk (73 Main Street) well in advance.
